Death is a Big Dill is a surreal short film set during the strange quiet of the late-night shift. Elio, a young man on the cusp of graduating, spends his nights selling pickles while secretly listening to old cassette tapes of his late mother. Over one shift, he collides with Riley, an old flame; Dean, Riley’s clueless boyfriend; a thief; and a pickle…? With humor and poignancy, this story confronts grief and human impermanence, and the ways in which love lingers. This is my capstone project at Occidental College, view the full film here.
